Rise, Sister, Rise

Women’s Group Therapy with Leah Grace

“A circle of women may be the most powerful force known to humanity. If you have one, embrace it. If you need one, seek it. If you find one, for the love of all that is good and holy, dive in. Hold on. Love it up. Let them see you. Let them hold you. Let your reluctant tears fall. Let yourself rise fiercely and love gently. You will be changed. The very fabric of your being will be altered by this, if you allow it. Please, please allow it.”
― Jeanette LeBlanc

The Power of the Circle

Women have been sitting in circles since the beginning of time. We gathered in caves, sat around fires and communed in sacred places to celebrate what it is to be a woman. The power of women’s circles used to be revered. In these circles, space was held for women of all ages as the elders passed down wisdom from one generation to the next.

For millennia, the sacred feminine coexisted with the sacred masculine, but eventually shifted to a patriarchal societal structure. This structure forced women to betray each other (during the witch trials, in particular), as a matter of survival and self preservation and created a climate where women distrusted one another. This persecution and subsequent distrust led to a collective trauma for generations of women. The sisterhood that was fostered in the sacred circle was lost. Still today, this mistrust is experienced amongst communities of women. Comparison, gossiping, and backstabbing are rooted in this patriarchal structure.

You’re Not Alone….

So often I sit with women who feel like they are the only ones who feel a sense of loneliness, disconnect and distrust. I sit with women who judge themselves for “taking too long” to heal their trauma. I sit with women who don’t realize how suppressed they are just by being born into a woman's body.

This is why I’ve been called to create this circle of women. To create a sacred sisterhood - a safe and supportive space for women to come together, to share their truth, to be witnessed; without shame, guilt or judgment. A space to come together to learn, to share, to laugh, to cry, to feel and to heal deeper than we ever have before. A space where we can be our authentic selves and be celebrated for our contribution.

When we are in circle we can commit to our own healing AND the healing of the women that sit beside us. We can lift one another up and create powerful bonds that last a lifetime. This is the power of women coming together in circle.

Key Benefits

Participating in Women's Group Therapy offers numerous benefits that can positively impact your personal growth and well-being. Some of the key benefits include:

  • Joining a women's group therapy provides a supportive and non-judgmental community of like-minded individuals who understand and empathize with your experiences. You can share your challenges, triumphs, and vulnerabilities, knowing that you are surrounded by individuals who genuinely care and can offer valuable support.

  • Group therapy allows you to connect with others who may have similar life experiences, struggles, or aspirations. This sense of shared understanding and validation can be incredibly empowering, as you realize that you are not alone in your journey and that your feelings and experiences are valid.

  • Engaging in group therapy sessions encourages introspection and self-reflection. By actively participating in discussions and activities, you gain insights into your own thoughts, emotions, and patterns of behavior. This heightened self-awareness can lead to personal growth, improved decision-making, and enhanced self-understanding.

  • Group therapy provides an opportunity to learn from the experiences and perspectives of others. Hearing different viewpoints and witnessing the personal growth of fellow participants can broaden your understanding of yourself and others. This exposure to diverse perspectives can foster empathy, compassion, and personal development.

  • Group therapy offers a safe space to practice and develop new coping skills and strategies. Through guided discussions, role-playing exercises, and feedback from others, you can learn healthier ways of managing stress, handling conflicts, and navigating challenging emotions. These skills can be applied not only within the therapy group but also in your everyday life.

  • Women's group therapy provides a space for emotional healing and processing. Sharing your feelings, fears, and traumas within a supportive group setting can help release emotional burdens and promote healing. Additionally, witnessing the healing journeys of others can inspire hope and resilience.

  • As you engage in group therapy, you develop a sense of empowerment, self-acceptance, and increased self-esteem. The supportive environment encourages you to embrace your strengths, overcome self-doubt, and cultivate a positive self-image. This newfound confidence can have a profound impact on all areas of your life.

  • Group therapy often leads to the formation of deep and meaningful connections with fellow participants. The bonds formed within the group can provide a sense of belonging, camaraderie, and long-lasting friendships. These connections offer ongoing support even after the therapy program ends.
