Vitalist Institute has evolved…

Every journey has its seasons—times of planting, times of growth, times of harvest, and times of change. After 12 years of walking this path together, of building something alive and meaningful, we find ourselves at a new threshold.

Together, we have cultivated a somatic approach to healing that honors the wisdom of the body, the rhythms of nature, and the power of deep community. We have trained practitioners, created transformative spaces, and witnessed the unfolding of profound healing. This work has always been about remembering—returning to ancient ways of being in reciprocity with ourselves, each other, and the earth.

And now, as the cycle turns, so do we.

Leah will be stepping into full leadership of the business under a refreshed brand: The Somatic Wisdom Institute. She is answering a deep call to renew the vision for the Eastown gathering space—expanding awareness of somatic therapy while fostering education around systemic healing, trauma integration, and truly inclusive care for all. The Somatic Wisdom Institute will also expand to a second location north of Grand Rapids, where retreat offerings have flourished in recent years. Join us on this sacred land for earth-based immersions and deep somatic healing retreats. Leah remains more committed than ever to honoring the depth and integrity of this work—offering it to the local community with grounded presence, spacious care, and unwavering devotion.

Micah’s path is calling him deeper into the ceremonial work that has been unfolding over the past six years. His dedication to men’s work and boys’ initiation remains a vital part of his commitment to this community. He will also be stepping more fully into his role as a steward of both the Vital Hivecommunity and the Vital Hive musical collaborative. This next season continues to draw Micah further into his devotion to the healing power of song, with several new projects set to be released this year. Micah will also continue to lead song circles at the Somatic Wisdom Institute, nurturing spaces of connection, embodiment, and shared voice.
